In recognition of 50 years of unwavering service to Queen and Country, and with his latest sortie, Skyfall, out this month, we thought it only fair to honour the wonderful Bond, James Bond with his very own themed month.
Created by novelist Ian Fleming in 1953, the iconic James Bond, 007, is among the few MI6 agents with the “00” grade – a license to kill the baddies and to thrill the ladies. And, given Eon Productions’ release of Dr No on 5th October 1962, he will have been doing just that, cinematically, this Friday for half a century. That’s 50 years of impeccable tailoring, sophisticated wit and sauve seduction. Also, we mustn’t forget the stunning spies, vicious villains, hideous henchmen, fast cars and über cool gadgets either. All these go to make Bond deservedly the second highest grossing film franchise of all time (having in recent years been knocked off the top spot by Harry Potter) and also able effortlessly to bag highlight of the London Olympic’s opening night ceremony.
So, alongside our usual film coverage, and, of course, the London Film Festival coverage, we will be bringing you some fantastic articles on all things Bond this month and we’re confident our coverage is going to leave you shaken and stirred…
