American Sniper has US box-office top spot in its sights
Box-office projections predict American Sniper will overtake Mockingjay – Part 1 to become biggest film of 2014 at US box-office. Mockingjay’s domestic total since its release on 21 November stands at $335.7m. American Sniper’s stands at $281.4m since its release on Christmas day and it is projected to settle around $360m.
The Iraq war drama, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Bradley Cooper, is already the highest-grossing war film in the US, surpassing Saving Private Ryan’s $216.3m.
American Sniper was released in UK cinemas 16th january 2015.
