A film is set to hit cinema’s this summer, which looks like reigniting the public’s passion for big budget disaster movies which reached its peak during the mid 1970s with films like 1974’s The Towering Inferno.  San Andreas, a Warner Bros release directed by Canadian Brad Peyton and starring all round action-man Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd and Kylie Minogue, tells the story of what happens to rescue-chopper pilot Ray (Johnson) as he attempts to find his estranged daughter after ‘the big one’ hits California.

The basic story was seen before in the 1974 smash hit Earthquake, right down to the subplot of a parent looking for their lost child.  However this time around what happens in California, could affect the whole of America with devastating results.  And, as the new trailer released this week shows, with modern CGI and advanced special effects the premise has been updated to produce what promises to be a genuinely unnerving experience.  If the thought of Dwayne Johnson and Kylie Minogue together in a film doesn’t put you off, then you only have to wait a couple of months to see whether San Andreas moves your world, when the film hits cinema screens on the 29th May.
