What date is it? Because if this Jeff Goldblum news doesn’t sound like an April Fool’s joke, I don’t know what does.
As reported by The Guardian, Jurassic Park and Independence Day (and Independence Day: Resurgence, yuck) star Jeff Goldblum has signed a deal with Universal’s Decca Record and at the age of 65, will release his debut jazz album later this year.
In all honesty, this news is not that surprising because the actor has been playing the piano since he was 15-years old. His talent was spotted by the Universal label’s bosses who saw him on the Graham Norton Show last year when he performed with Gregory Porter. Rightly so, they snapped him right up.
When speaking about the signing, the label’s head of A&R spoke enthusiastically when he said:
As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum. It’s like a universal truth … He’s a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world. His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy.
Everyone certainly DOES love Jeff Goldblum. He’s become the face of many of the internet’s most popular memes and, I for one, can’t wait to see him return to the park of dinosaurs when he reprises his role as Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom will stomp into cinemas on 6th June 2018 in the UK, before heading to the USA on 22nd June. We wonder if it will make as much as a killing as Jurassic World did in 2015.
Look out for Goldblum’s album later this year, we certainly will.
