A new bio-pic about Ms Material Girl herself, Madonna, is apparently in the preliminary stages of production. The Hollywood Reporter – the gossip bible of the movie world – claims the script for the proposed film has already been snapped up by Universal, and is to be produced by Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment and Michael De Luca who was behind the 2017 Oscars and hit films Moneyball (2011) and Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) amongst others.
The story has made headline news around the world with The New York Times saying that Madonna herself is not best pleased about the film. Called Blonde Ambition – after the star’s 1990 tour of the same name – it will chart Madonna’s early career as she attempted to break into the cutthroat world of the music industry as a singer and dancer in Manhattan during the late 70’s and early 80’s.
In a post on her Instagram account, Madonna Louise Ciccone (her real name) said, “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool.” Perhaps Universal – and their lawyers – should take note?
