An official “start of production” press release has not yet been issued by Paramount, but Production Weekly just ran an update confirming that Marvel’s Thor movie, being directed by Kenneth Branagh, will start shooting in LA in January. They say the shoot will then move to Santa Fe and then New Mexico from March until late April. Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgard. It is based on the comic book superhero created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby in 1962, and was inspired by the Norse god of thunder.
Paramount have set a May 20th, 2011 release… how are we going to contain our excitement until then!
