One is tempted to ask if, after several sequels and attempts to reinvigorate the Alien franchise, it might not be better to let sleeping creatures lie, and just remember the glory days of Ripley and crew in the 1979 classic? Well if the trailer for the latest adventure Alien: Covenant (2017) is anything to go by, it would seem that the answer is no.
Under the guidance of Ridley Scott, who helmed the original chiller, this installment follows the crew of a space ship who discover a mysterious new planet that harbours a deadly secret. And really that’s all you need to know. Roll on 12th May, and let the carnage begin.
