Rumours of a second Monsters Inc. movie have been bothering tight-lipped director Pete Docter for almost a year now.

Well, the Up and Monsters Inc. filmmaker can finally rest easy, as Pixar have officially announced a sequel is in the works.

They have set a release date of 16 November, 2012 for the furry follow-up. Expect to see all the regulars back, including John Goodman’s Sully and Billy Crystal’s Mike. No details of the plot have yet leaked, but we imagine they’ll be a closely guarded secret for now.

Meanwhile, Pixar have also set a June 2012 release date for new animated wonder Brave, which used to be called The Bear And The Bow.

Collider received what looks like the official plot summary for the film, and looks a bit like this…

Brave will feature the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson and Julie Walters. In the film, the impetuous, tangle-haired Merida, though a daughter of royalty, would prefer to make her mark as a great archer.

A clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father’s kingdom and her mother’s life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark, ancient curse to set things right.

Robin Yacoubian has been the Editor of Flickfeast for more years than he cares to remember. He has always had an appetite for film that borders on unhealthy and outwardly extols the merits or World and Indie cinema, whilst secretly loving nothing better than a good blockbuster If asked what his favourite film was he would always reply "Not the Shawshank Redemption". Not that it is a bad film… far from it... just not his favourite.
