It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of much-loved Flickfeast writer Frank Ochieng. Frank was passionate about movies and a prolific writer, his commentary on them were greatly enjoyed by all at Flickfeast and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Frank’s sister Beth has written the following touching obituary…

Former Boston resident, Frank Ochieng 54, died April 12, 2020, from a pre-existing condition.

Frank was born April 24, 1965 in Cambridge Ma., to Barbara (Cooper) Ochieng. Frank was a walking dictionary, there wasn’t a word he came across that he did not master. He was a prolific writer, a sports fan and his special interest was “Movie Trivia”. Frank earned his Associate degree in Law Enforcement at Massachusetts Bay Community College and went on to Suffolk University and received a Bachelor Degree in Sociology. One of Franks greatest hobbies was working for WBZ radio as a media commentator for the “Movie/TV” segment in Boston, MA. 

On Franks 21st birthday, he got a job at Social Security in Boston and worked there for over 20 years. Frank’s desire for being a movie critic would land him in Minneapolis, MN. He was a member of many movie trivia platforms such as: Rotten Tomatoes, Flickfeast and the Critical Movie Critics to name a few. Frank took pride in his current job working as a Customer Service Representative at the Microtel hotel where he sadly passed away.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother Elizabeth Grayson, mother Barbara(Cooper) Ochieng, aunt (Godmother) Judith Cooper, Uncle James Grayson, brother David Cohen. Frank leaves behind his brother Eric Ochieng of Seattle WA, sister Beth Collins of Boston, MA, brother in law Winston Collins of Boston, MA, nephews Caleb Haughton of Boston, MA, Malik Haughton of Quincy, MA, Cassius Cohen of Boston, MA, Caden Cohen of Boston, MA, niece Sasha Haughton of Boston, MA, Elianna Ochieng of Hudson, NH, Hadara of Hudson, NH, great nephew Jaden Haughton of Boston, MA, Jace Sheffield of Boston, MA, Jelani Haughton, of Boston, MA, great niece Zara of Boston, MA. and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Frank was a kind gentle soul and will greatly be missed. Memorial services will be held at a later date, please leave contact info for those who wish to attend his memorial service at [email protected].
