Lenny’s ordinary life is upended when he falls for the eccentric and captivating Georgia. As their relationship deepens, Lenny must navigate the hilarious and bewildering challenges that come with Georgia’s unconventional worldview.
This short film serves as a cautionary tale for those looking for love, particularly when those connections are initially made online. It begs the question – how early is too early in a burgeoning relationship, to ask whether or not your potential partner believes the earth to be flat?
The film’s central concept is strong. It feels like something that would appear as a skit on Saturday Night Live. The irony is that the overall execution of this fully rounded idea is rather, well, flat. If you pardon the pun.
The performances are suitably committed to the schtick. Doug Wyckoff as Lenny, gives great facial reactions to the increasing realisation of what he has let himself in for. Unfortunately, the screenplay does not have the strength or depth to sustain its runtime.
In comedy, timing is everything and there are not enough solid gags to fill the space. A tighter direction and edit could have increased the film’s impact.
The comedy might fall a little flat, but the sting in the tale allows the film to go out with a bang. Not a big one though. That would just start another argument!
