For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
The trailer confirms what other recent Marvel Cinematic Universe projects like WandaVision and Loki have hinted at. The Multiverse is coming and it appears this movie will directly link to the upcoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
For all the internet chatter, rumours and theorising, the trailer keeps its Multiverse cards close to its chest. There are plenty of teases to villains from the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man films however it only confirms the return of Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus. With Molina’s “Hello Peter” guaranteed to send Spidey fans into meltdown.
Fans will need to wait until December 17 to see who else crosses over from the Multiverse. In the meantime, they will have Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3 and Eternals on November 12 to keep them busy.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is exclusively in cinemas from December 17.
